Oleksandr Usyk is already regarded as one of the best in the sport but now he has been offered the chance to win a world title in a third separate division.

Usyk has completed a rare clean sweep by becoming Olympic Gold Medalist in 2012, undisputed cruiserweight champion in 2018 and now undisputed heavyweight champion in 2024.

The undefeated Ukrainian southpaw all but completed boxing by beating Tyson Fury in their historic showdown in May. Next up the pair will renew their hostilities with a rematch scheduled for December 21 when Usyk will put his Ring Magazine, Lineal, WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF titles on the line out in Saudi Arabia.

However, he has now been offered another option for the future with former cruiserweight turned bridgerweight champion Lawrence Okolie keen to face the pound-for-pound king.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Okolie said he thinks there is a good chance of the fight happening, especially as Usyk has indicated he might go back down in weight after the Fury rematch.

“Beautiful belt the WBC Bridgerweight belt. It’s an opportunity for him to say he was a three-weight world champion if he beat me so I think that’s a much more likely fight.

When I was first coming up he was Cruiserweight champion. So him and Mairis Briedis, they were all the guys I was watching, then I got to world level at that weight and moving up he’s the best heavyweight now so of course I’ve been watching him.”

Despite getting the victory, Usyk has admitted he made mistakes against Fury in their first fight but has vowed not to repeat them the second time around.
