Oleksandr Usyk put on a masterclass to beat Daniel Dubois for a second time this past weekend.

Usyk is now the first man in history to become a two-time world heavyweight champion after being an undisputed cruiserweight champion.

His rematch with the IBF strap holder ‘DDD’ was over four rounds quicker than the first time around, with Usyk taking control from the off and tiring the Brit with constant feints and movement. In front of a crowd of around 90, 000 people at Wembley Stadium, the Ukrainian closed the show in round five with two knockdowns, the second of which saw Dubois fail to rise for the referee’s count.

It brought to an end a fine run of form for the 27-year-old, who had beaten Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua, all by stoppage, inside 10 months.

Speaking to Mail Sport Boxing, Usyk was asked whether or not ‘DDD’ can go on to win another world title.

“Yeah, why not? Yes of course. Listen, Daniel now, 27 years old, he’s a young guy. If Daniel continues training I think Daniel can take belts again.”

Dubois will be keen to get back to winning ways and once again impose himself on the heavyweight division, though a period of recovery and time off is crucial first. At what level he returns remains to be seen, after proving in the past he can bounce back in big fights.

As for Usyk, he has said he will now rest before considering his next move. Immediately after the fight, Jake Paul entered the ring for a face-off ahead of a potential MMA match with Usyk, though a mandatory defence against the in-form Joseph Parker is more likely to be next.
