Many people now believe that Oleksandr Usyk has completed boxing having beaten Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to become undisputed in a second weight class.

British favourites Fury and Joshua were both two-time world champions when Usyk stepped up to face them, and he has now done so twice each.

All four of those fights between 2021 and this past Saturday went the full 12 rounds, and the majority of all 48 of them went in favour of the all-time great Ukrainian.

When Usyk became the undisputed heavyweight champion back in May after his first win over Fury, he did so six years after winning the undisputed cruiserweight champion, and six years after becoming an Olympic gold medalist.

In between those fights, he also beat young and hungry contender Daniel Dubois, who has since gone on to pick up the vacant IBF belt and defend it with a KO win over Joshua.

Speaking to Boxing King Media, Usyk was asked who gave him the toughest ’24 rounds’ and he didn’t hesitate when saying Tyson Fury.

However, and interestingly, he was then asked to name the favourite should the pair of Brits face off next and went with ‘AJ.’

“Maybe it’s Anthony Joshua.”

He was then asked if the win would come by knockout or on the cards.

“Maybe points, I don’t know.”

It is certainly a contest the British public would still very much love to see despite both men having these losses on their ledgers, and Joshua’s team will likely push for it.

Immediately after the fight with Usyk, Fury said he would take some time to consider his options. Some in the sport believe now would be a good time to hang up the gloves.
