Oleksandr Usyk has been explaining what it has been like working with fellow heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

These two heavyweights have twice shared the ring together, first in 2021, then in 2022. Usyk won both fights on the cards, firstly to relieve Joshua of his three world titles, then to retain them in the rematch.

Since then, Usyk has also beaten Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois to become a two-time undisputed ruler, while Joshua’s last outing was a KO loss to Daniel Dubois.

In a conversation with Boxing King Media, Usyk explained why he is working with Joshua ahead of the Brit’s fight with Jake Paul.

“I like this guy, because this guy is smart. I think this guy has a very big heart. He really loves boxing.”

He then explained that the camp is not about moulding Joshua into his own shape.

“We not give my style. We, my team, its not only one lion, its only Usyk? No, we have another, different style. I’m southpaw, Anthony is regular, Anthony doesn’t move like me. Listen, we give tools that help Anthony grow. My team with plan, give me what helps me. My team gives plans what helps anyone – not only my plan.”

With Usyk’s team in his corner on top of the natural advantages and many years of experience he already has, the task for Paul becomes even more significant, as he prepares to do battle with Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on Friday 19 December, with the event broadcast live on Netflix.
