Tyson Fury has released his first statement since official news of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, informing fans he is now on ‘the path to redemption.’

Fury was one half of the first undisputed heavyweight championship bout in over two decades, but fell short to the elite Ukrainian who scored a sensational knockdown in the ninth before winning the bout on the cards.

There was a contractual rematch clause for both men should they lose and it didn’t take the Brit’s team long to confirm he had activated it. Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh then announced the second fight would take place in Riyadh again, this time on December 21.

Fury took to social media today to warn Usyk he was ‘coming for him.’

“Listen up! I’ve conquered everything in boxing, titles, records, the lot. But I’ve never had to come back from a loss.

On December 21st in Riyadh, in the heart of the kingdom, the king will reclaim his throne and become undisputed. Usyk, I’m coming for you! Get ready for the Gypsy King!

The path to redemption is all mine. I know what I have to do, I saw my shortcomings and best believe I am inevitable.”

The Ukrainian’s promoter Alex Krassyuk responded in the comments to say simply, ‘Bro, let’s have a beer’ – a cheeky dig at a recent video of Fury seen worse for wear that did the rounds on social media this week.

Although Fury says he will become undisputed with a win, it has not yet been made clear if all four belts will be on the line. The IBF is understood to be considering its position having previously said the belt would be made vacant to allow a long overdue mandatory challenge fight.

Should this be the case, Anthony Joshua’s team are targetting a fight against Interim Champion Daniel Dubois in September.
