Oleksnadr Usyk was watching ringside as a potential future heavyweight world champion recorded another win this past weekend.
Usyk is history’s only ever two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era and was also the four-belt ruler down at cruiserweight, having first announced himself with an Olympic Gold medal back at the London Games in 2012.
Having soundly beaten the likes of Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, all twice each, he is now in his late 30s. Presumably, he now has only a limited number of fights left, so the boxing world awaits to see who will emerge from his shadow as the divisional ruler in the coming years.
On Monday, Usyk vacated his WBO belt, which means that Fabio Wardley has been elevated to full champion while the Ukrainian carefully picks his next move as Fury continues to call for a trilogy fight in 2026.
In the meantime, he has been in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, watching a heavyweight bout that saw fast-rising professional Bakhodir Jalolov take an early win over Solomon Adebayo.

His impressive one-punch KO came in the fourth round, and his record is now 17 wins with no losses and 15 knockouts against the likes of Chris Thompson, Kamil Sokołowski and Vitaly Kudukhov.
The Uzbek professional has competed at three consecutive summer Olympics and is 31, so is late to the professional game as he kept one foot in the amateurs. He stands 6ft 7 tall, so could potentially pose a real problem for any of the more established names in the division. Promoter Bob Arum has previously talked up his chances of being a future world champion, however Jalolov must be moved quicker now.
