A heavyweight challenger with experience of standing opposite both Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois has given insight into their upcoming rematch.
These two heavyweights have already fought once back in August 2023. That fight was marred by controversy when Dubois had Usyk down on the canvas with a shot, but the referee ruled it low and gave Usyk time to recover. He did so and turned the tide on ‘DDD’ before stopping him in the 9th round.
He went on to twice beat Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to become the undisputed ruler in the banner division. Dubois also went on a good run, first beating Jarrell Miller in December 2023, then Filip Hrgovic in June 2024 and Joshua in September, all three by knockout.
The pair now fight again on July 19 at Wembley Stadium with all four major belts on the line, as they look to crown just the second undisputed heavyweight champion in over 20 years.
Speaking to Seconds Out while in camp sparring with Usyk, Frazer Clarke was asked about the Ukrainian’s rematch with Dubois, having previously sparred ‘DDD’ in the past too.
“I don’t go too much off sparring but it’s difficult to pick against Oleksandr Usyk cause he’s a fantastic champion. Daniel is a young hungry lion, so it’s a fantastic fight. I’m not sure how it will land, but it’s a good fight nevertheless.”
Should Usyk win, he will become the first ever two-time undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era. Whoever does come out on top will soon have to address their mandatories with the likes of Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora and Agit Kabayel all ready and waiting for their shot at world honours.
