Oleksandr Usyk Warned That His Next Challenger Is The Only Heavyweight Who Can Beat Him

Oleksandr Usyk is in the final stages of a superb career and is now carefully plotting his last two fights.

The Ukrainian turned professional after winning a gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012. Since then, just 23 fights later, he has not lost and has not even been legitimately put down in the ring.

He managed to become undisputed in the cruiserweight division before moving up to the banner division where he did the same thing – the first man in history to do that in the four belt era.

Along the way, he beat the likes of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice each in back-to-back fights and is now motivated by becoming a two-time undisputed champion by beating new IBF Champion Daniel Dubois again. However, the WBO has ordered him to defend against form man Joseph Parker.

Speaking to BoxNation, Parker’s coach Andy Lee has claimed his man is ready.

“I believe Joseph is probably the only heavyweight out there who can really challenge Usyk and is a threat to Usyk. He’s a great boxer with speed and coordination and a real boxing IQ, but Joseph also has those things.

“He has the stature to match him in terms of his size and ability. He’s not a 6ft 6, 6ft 7 heavyweight. Usyk loves those guys, he sits underneath them and makes them work at a rate they’re not comfortable with, Joseph has the speed and the coordination to match him.”

Usyk has made it clear that his target is still Dubois despite this order. The WBO President has stated that the Ukrainian can put in a petition for the unification to take precedent.
