Oleksandr Usyk remains unbeaten in the professional ring.
The Ukrainian hasn’t really even come close to losing a fight. He has been down on the canvas just once, and that was after a shot that was ruled low back in August 2023 when he took on Daniel Dubois in their first fight.
Aside from that, he has twice beaten Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury across four 12-round fights. His first fight with Fury was for the undisputed heavyweight championship, and this weekend he rematches Dubois for a second shot at all four belts. Should he win, he will be the first man in history to be a two-time undisputed ruler in the banner division during the four-belt era.
It is often said that the one man who gave Usyk most problems was Derek Chisora in his second fight up at heavyweight.
Speaking to The Sun Sport, ‘Del Boy’ claimed that he was told by Usyk’s coaches after the fight that they felt he had done enough to win.
“My plan was just hit him anywhere. That was my plan. I wasn’t going to try and go in and box a gold medalist and undisputed cruiserweight. I didn’t have a game plan at all. The gameplan was how long can we last?
I wanted to win eight rounds. And I won six rounds. Even his coaches came to my room and said we thought you won the fight.”
Dubois is expected to give Usyk one of his toughest fights in their rematch, given the form he is in and after knocking out Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua in his last three fights.
