Vic Saludar, 18-3-(10), from the Philippines upset defending champion Ryuya Yamanaka, 16-3-(5), to win the WBO minimumweight title in Kobe, Japan on Friday.
The Filipino challenger decked Yamanaka with a solid right hand to the head in the seventh round on his way to a unanimous 12 round points win by scores of 116-111, 117-110 and 115-112. The bout was staged at the Kobe Central Gym.
