Former world title challenger Kevin Mitchell has led the tributes to younger brother Vinny Mitchell, who tragically died last night (Monday, April 1) following a motorcycle crash in their native Dagenham. Police confirmed that two motorbikes - and no other vehicles - were involved in the collision in which ex-pro and father of four Vinny lost his life. The investigation is ongoing.

"There’s not many things I can say to say how heartbroken I am," Kevin tweeted last night. "I love you Vinny Mitchell, I promise I’ll make sure your kids will know who their dad was. It kills me. See you again some day brother."

The pair were incredibly close, both inside and outside the boxing gym. Vinny stopped boxing in 2010, having suffered just one defeat in 13 contests, but appeared to have found contentment in recent years with a young family. Widely considered a gregarious character, Mitchell had a warm heart and was often the life and soul of the party.

Our sincere condolences are extended to the entire Mitchell family.
