Fabio Wardley is building towards his ring return following his stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois.
Wardley was elevated to full WBO champion after he beat Joseph Parker by KO back in October 2025 and then decided to take his first defence against former IBF ruler Dubois.
He started well and had his fellow Brit down early but eventually ‘DDD’ began landing the bigger shots and eventually, once Wardley’s face was a bloodied mess, the referee stepped in to stop the fight in the 11th round.
Speaking to BoxingScene, Wardley’s manager Michael Ofo spoke about where his man is at and about the possibility of a rematch with Dubois.
“He’s resting up, healing, and he’s actually been doing a bit of training. No news [on a fight date], but we have activated the rematch. I’ve spoken to Fabio, Fabio is excited to be in such a fight again. He knows the mistakes that he made and wants to get it back in blood.”
He then fired back at critics who said the fight should have been stopped sooner.
“Fabio was always responding so as much as I got some of the critics, I didn’t get it. If you know and you have watched some of Fabio’s fights before, he’s always responded.
“It’s a heavyweight world title fight, it’s one of the best fights we’ve ever seen, so when I see people complain, I just think weirdos. It’s exactly what it’s about, you want somebody to give 100%.”
Wardley’s success might have counted against him as he got overconfident and went in to land more big shots, which is when Dubois began to catch him. He has previously taken one rematch, against Frazer Clarke, and won it in the first round.
