Daniel Dubois has been labelled a quitter more than once, and now Fabio Wardley has responded to those claims.
Dubois is the former IBF world heavyweight champion with standout victories on his resume, including KO wins over former two-time ruler Anthony Joshua, as well as Filip Hrgovic and Jarrell Miller.
However, he has also been in fights where he has been under serious pressure and has not survived. In one instance, he was hurt badly by Joe Joyce’s ram-rob jabs in their encounter and took a knee, then allowed himself to be counted out, while many think he also went down too easily after he was hit by Oleksandr Usyk in their first contest.
Speaking to Seconds Out, recently elevated WBO world champion Wardley was asked for his views on the subject ahead of their heavyweight showdown in May.
“I don’t know if I would brandish him wholly as a quitter, but I know there has been situations, circumstances, fits in the past where he has quit, he has capitulated, he has given up. If that’s in someone, it doesn’t just go; it’s part of your innate personality, so yeah, the right opponent can bring that out of you. It’s part of your personality.”
It was pointed out that Wardley has been under heavy fire in the past and he explained why he has never quit.
“It’s just not in me, it’s not part of my character, I’m built differently.”
Both of these men have high percentage knockouts, which means there will likely be plenty of shots traded and it could come down to who is the last man standing.
