Frank Warren Changes His Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk Rematch Score After Rewatching The Fight

Frank Warren has re-watched the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk rematch and admitted it was ‘closer’ than he thought it was on the night.

On December 21, Usyk managed to repeat his first win over ‘The Gypsy King’ to retain three of the four major world titles he won back in May when the pair battled it out for undisputed honours.

Despite Fury working hard in camp to avenge his first loss, he couldn’t manage to stop Usyk’s impressive work rate and front-foot pressure. As such, the fight ended with Usyk winning on all three cards with scores of 116-112.

Some within the sport claimed those cards were wide once the final bell sounded, including Fury’s promoter and Queensberry chief Warren.

Speaking to BoxNation, he admitted that he since watched the fight back and saw it closer the second time around, but still believes Fury should have got his hand raised.

“I still feel that Tyson won it, I think it’s much closer than I thought the first time but I still thought he won it.

I watched it again, and a lot of people involved in the sport who I consider to be quite knowledgeable, and I consider myself to be quite knowledgeable having been doing it for 47 years and guided god knows how many champions in my time, I don’t see how one of the judges did not give Tyson one of the last seven rounds.

I cannot see that, I watched it back and the other two judges each gave him a round each. I don’t understand that.

It was a close fight, like the first fight. I thought Tyson would be stopping him this time, but it didn’t happen.”

What Fury does next remains to be seen, but Eddie Hearn has called for him to face Anthony Joshua if he does decide to box on.
