Frank Warren has spoken about Tyson Fury‘s preparations for his second fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury first fought the Ukrainian great back in May. That was the first undisputed heavyweight contest for 25 years and it went the way of the undefeated southpaw. He managed to land more shots on ‘The Gypsy King’, particularly one huge flurry in the ninth round, which sent the Brit away with his first-ever professional loss.

Usyk made history as only the second man to hold all cruiserweight and heavyweight titles in his career, though the pound-for-pound great soon had to vacate the IBF belt in order to fulfil the rematch with Fury on December 21.

It was a close fight once more, but Usyk again imposed himself with his relentless work-rate and landed the more cleaner shots to take a unanimous decision on the scorecards with all three reading 116-112 in his favour.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Fury’s promoter Warren revealed that Fury had a good camp, unlike last time when he received a bad cut late in the day which prevented him from sparring for the rearranged fight in May.

“The team was what it was and the training camp went extremely well and the result is what it is.”

Another change this time around was that Fury’s father John was not in his corner after confused messaging in the first fight.

“That was the best thing to do, that was the way forward. It wasn’t controversial. Tyson’s a very astute guy. He knows his boxing, he’s got a good boxing brain. What everyone has to understand is it’s his dad. He’s close to his father, his father’s close to him. The second fight, the team was what it was.”

Fury has not yet decided what he will do next, but the lure of a huge fight with fellow Brit and Usyk victim Anthony Joshua looms large.
