The rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is just days away, and Frank Warren has now had his say on how it could go.
These two generational rivals first fought back in April after more than two years of build-up. The dislike between the two has been bubbling for years, and Benn’s failed drug test late in the day before their first proposed fight date only added fuel to that fire.
There were heated exchanges, egg slaps and fines all before the first bell, and then a 12-round war ensued in which Eubank managed to use his natural size advantage to get the win on the cards despite a good showing from Benn.
There has been just as much beef in the build-up the second time round, with Benn denying Eubank’s power in a recent face-to-face.
Speaking to BoxNation, Hall of Fame promoter Warren was asked about his thoughts on the rematch this weekend.
“I just, you know, got to keep thinking the big guy will beat the little guy.
[Conor] boxed very well to start with in the last fight, he boxed extremely well, much better than I thought he would, but the size mattered at the end of it.
Maybe he might be a bit more comfortable now, maybe he’s grown into the weight a bit, we’ll see. He’s got to jump on him from the beginning, jump on Jr, and be the box, and if he can do that, he has a chance of winning, but it may work out being the same as last time.”
Benn will again be fighting above his natural weight and Eubank will be restricted by a rehydration clause. He is now 36-years-old, while Benn is only 29, so age could well be a factor come the first bell at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
