Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren has issued an important update on Moses Itauma‘s next move.

Itauma has established himself as the most exciting prospect in heavyweight boxing over the last 18 months, racking up an impressive 11 stoppages in 13 victories since making his debut back in 2023.

The 20-year-old from Kent was last in action in August when he blasted out countryman and former world title challenger Dillian Whyte in the opening round of their clash in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Itauma has been tipped to box for a version of the world heavyweight championship in the near future, although it remains to be seen who exactly his next opponent will be.

The destructive heavyweight had been expected to return in December, however, speaking in a press conference this weekend, Itauma’s promoter Frank Warren revealed that his man will not fight this year and appear keen on the 20-year-old facing reigning WBA regular heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev next.

“We gotta see what happens with this Pulev situation because the WBA ordered that fight [Pulev vs. Itauma] and he can’t get out of it and we’ll see where we go with it.

They’re talking about they wanna go to Dubai for this [Murat] Gassiev fight but the WBA have not sanctioned that fight to my knowledge. How can you sanction a fight if you’re putting another one out?

Ni [Itauem won’t fight in Dcember] because if we say he’s fighting then they’ll say well he’s not ready to fight [Pulev] and they’ll want the Gassiev fight and we don’t want to go down that road.”

It has been reported in recent weeks that Pulev had agreed to face former unified cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev in Dubai on December 12, but based on Warren’s comments, it appears Queensberry will do all they can to make the fight with Itauma instead.
