Oleksandr Usyk’s undisputed status is under threat after a social media post promoted the WBO to scrutinise a previously reported injury.

Following his victory over Daniel Dubois to become four-belt heavyweight ruler for the second time, Usyk was ordered to begin negotiations with WBO Interim Champion Joseph Parker. His team requested and was granted a delay in proceedings due to a ‘lingering back injury.’

Since then, the southpaw champion was seen in a social media video dancing without restraint. Speaking to Sky Sports, Parker’s promoter David Higgins raised questions about the clip.

“I haven’t actually seen the medical evidence but you would think that a serious injury would prevent that sort of activity.”

Boxing Scene now reports that the WBO has ordered an ‘updated medical prognosis’ in light of the events. In a letter to the Ukrainian’s team, the request is made clear.

“The medical update must be detailed and thorough, and must certify to the WBO Mr. Usyk’s present medical condition, prognosis, estimated recovery timeline and any other supporting medical evidence deemed relevant.

“The committee cannot allow further delay or uncertainty without satisfactory clarification. Failure to comply with this request will leave the committee with no alternative but to take appropriate action in accordance with the rules and regulations of the WBO.”

Usyk has until Monday September 1 to have the examination carried out.

Though the video in question was posted just last week, some have speculated that it may have been filmed in the past, and Usyk may be able to provide the appropriate information to satisfy the WBO.

If not, Parker could be looking at being elevated to full champion, with the 38-year-old from Simferopol being stripped and no longer undisputed.

In the meantime, Parker’s manager Spencer Brown recently told Boxing News that his charge is likely to defend his interim belt before the year is out.
