Dana White’s disruption of the boxing scene continues as he seeks to add more big names to Zuffa Boxing, the promotional outfit he runs with Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia.
White is best known as CEO of the UFC, the largest MMA promotion in the world. He recently launched Zuffa Boxing, but has had to face some obstacles along the way.
His first big signing was Conor Benn, who had worked for his entire career with Eddie Hearn until White pried him away with a huge financial offer to fight Regis Prograis and then Ryan Garcia.
White also recently hosted a card headlined by British heavyweight Johnny Fisher, and has signed the likes of American multi-weight champion Shakur Stevenson and Aussie cruiserweight ruler Jai Opetaia,
It now seems as though he could be going after another of Hearn’s big names in light-heavyweight Ben Whittaker.
Speaking to the Ariel Helwani Show, Whittaker admitted that Dana White may attend his fight this Saturday and confirmed White has shown interest in signing him.
“I heard Dana might be at the fight. That’s what I heard. I’ve had numerous messages, and my manager has had numerous messages. They’re all hungry. It’s like a pack of wolves out there, man. I’m just trying to keep them at bay with a stick. They’re dive-bombing in [the DMs], man, head first.”
Whittaker takes on Conor Wallace this Saturday in an IBF light heavyweight title eliminator, with the winner then in line to face unified champion Dmitry Bivol.
