Dillian Whyte only sees one result if two heavyweights are to come to blows later in the year.
Whyte’s career has stalled in recent times. The popular fighter has always been a high-level contender involved in plenty of dramatic bouts.
He was famously stopped by Anthony Joshua early in both men’s careers in 2015 and after that has taken on a who’s who of the division such as Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora, Alexander Povetkin and Tyson Fury, who beat him in his only full world title tilt back in 2022.
His last contest was a win over Ebenezer Tetteh in December 2024 and he recently had to withdraw from a scheduled bout with Joe Joyce after picking up an injury in training.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Whyte addressed the possibility that current world champion Daniel Dubois might have to defend his title against 49-fight veteran Chisora, after the IBF announced they will order the clash to happen next.
“No, [Dubois] ain’t going to fight, no. Dubois will kill Derek. He might actually die. Seriously.
There are bigger and better fights for Dubois to take right now. It’s just business. Derek Chisora is at the bottom of that list. There are bigger and better guys at the top of the list.”
Many people echo these sentiments given the miles on Chisora’s clock and the sheer punching power of the much younger Dubois.
Fans would instead prefer him to get a second shot at unified champion Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed honours, despite having already lost to the great Ukrainian by KO back in the summer of 2023.
