Dillian Whyte has done some matchmaking for his old friend Derek Chisora.
The two men have fought twice. Once in December 2016, when ‘The Bodysnatcher’ won a split decision after 12 rounds, and then again in December 2018 when he won by KO in the 11th round.
Of late, Chisora, who is now 41-years-old but still a popular heavyweight, has been in better form with wins over Otto Wallin, Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce, while Whyte has been away from the sport clearing his name after testing positive for a banned substance, and has fought only a couple of times in the last three years.
He returns this weekend in a dangerous fight with a young and much hyped challenger, Moses Itauma, which Chisora warned him against taking.
Chisora, meanwhile, has long said he will bow out after 50 fights, and is currently taking his time to choose who that last opponent might be.
Speaking to BoxNation, Whyte suggested he takes on former British champion and current WBA interim champion Fabio Wardley.
“Derek Chisora should fight Fabio Wardley. There you go, he told me not to take a fight, I’m telling him to take a fight cause there’s money in it for him.”
He was then asked if he thought his old rival would actually take it before questioning ‘Del Boy’s courage.
“Would he f**k [take the fight]. Derek Chisora is a coward now, that’s a good fight though.”
Wardley has stopped Frazer Clarke and Justis Huni in his last two fights, so is a form man in the division who has knocked out 18 of the 20 men he has faced.
