Deontay Wilder’s Ex Trainer Malik Scott ‘Worrying’ Ahead Of Chisora Fight

Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora are soon to square off, and now the American’s former trainer Malik Scott has given his view on the contest.

This is a heavyweight clash between two titans for the last decade and more. Both will be stepping into the ring for the 50th time come fight night, and both men are now well into their forties.

It is Wilder who has been world champion and dominated for several years with his fearsome right hand, making more than 10 defences of the WBC belt before eventually becoming unstuck against Tyson Fury.

After being knocked out twice by ‘The Gypsy King, ‘ Wilder has failed to refind his earlier form with a points loss to Joseph Parker and a KO loss to Zhilei Zhang coming since.

Speaking to Seconds Out ahead of the bout on 4th April at The O2 Arena in London, Scott admitted there are questions to be answered for Wilder in this fight.

“Deontay knows exactly what he’s dealing with with Derek Chisora. We’re just going to have to see because Chisora is going to make him answer all the questions he wants to know about himself.

“I love Deontay. That’s my brother … I probably do worry about him. I do, that’s my brother. He gave me a shot at training him. We have so much history together. I don’t want to say I worry, but I think about him and I always want the best for him.”

Chisora has won his last three against Otto Wallin, Gerald Washington and Joe Joyce, so a fourth here would very much end his storied career on a high.
