William Scull has shared his final verdict on the upcoming showdown between former rival Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The pound-for-pound greats are less than one week away from doing battle for the undisputed super-middleweight championship at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scull faced the Mexican superstar in Riyadh back in May, suffering the first defeat of his professional career and surrendering his IBF world title in the process, falling short in his attempt at becoming the undisputed champion in what would have been a monumental upset.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Scull said that whilst he believes this upcoming clash is a ‘great fight’, he believes Canelo has the clear advantage going into it.

“I think it’s gonna be a great fight, there is a disadvantage in regards to the weight classes. If there wasn’t, it would be a 50-50 fight but because of fighting at this weight class definitely benefits Canelo. I’d say about a 75% chance that Canelo wins the fight.”

Scull – who was criticised for his negative performance against the Mexican – was then asked what was more likely: ‘Bud’ Crawford to win the fight by decision, or Canelo by stoppage.

“Canelo [with the knockout].”

Canelo has been a dominant force at super-middleweight since making the move up from 160lbs back in 2018, defeating the likes of Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant and Jaime Munguia along the way whilst becoming a two-time undisputed champion in the process.

Should Crawford manage to relieve him of those four belts, he will have achieved sole titlist status in three divisions and undoubtedly cement his legacy as perhaps the best of a generation, pound-for-pound. Many feel that the blueprint Scull set, albeit poor to watch, of moving and frustrating Alvarez, is the American’s key to victory.
