Wladimir Klitschko has revealed who he believes to be the greatest fighter in boxing history.
The Ukrainian icon enjoyed an outstanding professional career of his own, which began back in 1996 after he walked away from the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia with a super-heavyweight gold medal.
Klitschko would go on to reign as the unified world heavyweight champion for seven years between 2008 and 2015, making 14 successful defences of his crown against the likes of Alexander Povetkin, David Haye and Kubrat Pulev.
He was dethroned by Tyson Fury when they clashed in November of 2015, although the Ukrainian great did come extremely close to defeating Anthony Joshua in their thrilling encounter two years later, but ultimately fell short against the two-time unified heavyweight champion.
He has been linked to a shock return to boxing over the past year, but as of yet nothing has fully come to fruition.
In a feature with DAZN Boxing, Klitschko didn’t hesitate to reveal who he believes is the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves.
“Muhammad Ali. There’s no question.”
Ali took the sport by storm during the sixties and seventies, reigning as the world heavyweight champion on three separate occasions throughout the course of his glittering professional career which spanned between 1960 and 1981.
He boasts victories over a number of generational greats, although some of his more memorable wins came against the likes of Joe Frazier, Ken Norton and George Foreman, defeating the latter in their iconic showdown in Zaire over 50 years ago, which is more commonly known as ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’.
