Wladimir Klitschko’s Promoter Reveals The Only Way He Will Fight Again

There continues to be talk about a potential ring return for Wladimir Klitschko.

Klitschko was one of the most dominant heavyweights of his era. The Ukrainian, who often fought in front of huge crowds in Germany, was a knockout artist who held multiple world titles for many years.

After a couple of upset losses early in his career, he hooked up with the legendary Manny Steward and went on an impressive run of 25 wins. That winning streak ended in 2015 when he was outpointed by the newly emerging Tyson Fury.

Fury took time away from the spot rather than rematching Klitschko, so instead ‘Dr Steel Hammer’ took on Anthony Joshua for two of the three major world titles at Wembley in 2017.

The epic fight ended in a KO win for Joshua and Klitschko retired shortly after, despite never getting the Fury match he long craved.

Speaking to ESNEWS, his promoter Tom Loeffler said Klitschko has eyes on becoming the oldest-ever heavyweight champion.

“Wladimir said he would fight for a title and break George Foreman’s record so we will see. He’s 48, 49 in March. If anyone can do it, Wladimir can do it.

“Naturally he’s not going to fight Usyk. He has an open cheque with Fury. But we’ll see how things shake out for Wladimir. I’d like to see him back in the ring.”

One shot at a world title could come by fighting the winner of the upcoming IBF fight between champion Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker on February 22 out in Saudi Arabia. Dubois has previously welcomed the bout with Klitschko.
