A former world champion who shared the ring with both Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford has predicted their upcoming mega-fight.

‘Bud’ Crawford is set to challenge the 34-year-old Mexican icon for his unified WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight titles later this year, as he bids to become a five-division world champion and write himself even deeper into the boxing history books.

Canelo has been a major player in the super middleweight division ever since he captured the undisputed championship with a victory over Caleb Plant in 2021.

Since then, he has defeated the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Jaime Munguia, but faces a different kind of challenge when he faces the 37-year-old from Omaha.

Former world champion Amir Khan shared the ring with both Canelo and ‘Bud’ during his career, and has has revealed his thoughts on who he believes will come out on top in the highly anticipated showdown between two of the sports biggest names.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Khan was quick to give his backing to the American superstar, who claimed a dominant stoppage victory over the Bolton boxer in 2019.

“I think Crawford in my opinion.

Size might matter, but then again I think since I fought Canelo, Canelo has become a better boxer … Especially in his fight against Munguia he boxed really well, he’s looking really good, a lot of people might say he’s getting old but Canelo’s still a beast.”

The huge showdown has now been agreed to take place this September in Las Vegas, after Canelo signed a four fight deal with Riyadh Season.
