Tyson Fury is in camp and preparing for his next fight having come off his first-ever loss last time out in May.

That defeat was at the hands of the former undisputed cruiserweight turned undisputed heavyweight ruler Oleksandr Usyk.

It was a close fight that went the distance and Fury must now make adjustments as he aims to become a three-time champion himself.

One man who has helped him do that in previous camp is Jai Opetaia, the current IBF cruiserweight champion who beat Jack Massey at the weekend to defend his title.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, the Australian was asked to assess his performance.

“It was alright. We can do better. It’s been a weird couple of months, we really had to adapt to having my old man back in here, we needed that fight to get back to our roots and finding our groove. I know my fitness and sharpness can be better.”

He was then asked what he wanted to do next and spoke about unifying the division.

“I feel like it’s the smartest move. This is where it’s happening. I want to get the mandatory out of the way and then chase unification fights. I’m looking to level up and show everyone why I’m the best.”

Having already sparred Fury once, albeit before leaving the camp early due to his own fight commitments, Opetaia was asked if he would be keen to do so again as ‘The Gypsy King’ prepares for his rematch with Usyk in December.

“Of course, I’m always willing to be around other world-class athletes and level up around great fighters. It would be an honour.”

Fury has made it clear that he is looking for the knockout this time around after feeling the first fight was unfairly scored.
