Terence Crawford has a long line of potential opponents following his latest victory.

The 36-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska made his debut at super-welterweight this month after championship success in the three lower divisions. He won the 154 WBA World Title at the first point of asking by beating Israil Madrimov via unanimous decision.

Despite the legacy-building win, Teofimo Lopez wasn’t overly impressed. Speaking to Fight Hub TV, the WBO Super-Lightweight Champion said age was catching up to ‘Bud’ and that he wanted a fight with him now.

“The age is catching up to Crawford. I would love to get Crawford now before it catches him later on. It’s already there. All I can say now is let’s see what he does next. I don’t think he should fight Canelo, I think he should fight the guy who’s coming up next – Teofimo.

Why not, man? He’s done it, two-time undisputed, I’ve done it, two-time undisputed. This would be a reincarnation of the main thing, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran. Come on, somebody hype it up for us. We need it. Boxing needs it. The best fighting the best.”

In a seperate interview with the same channel, Lopez said he was surprised that he seen a decline in Crawford ‘so quick,’ and that he thought the pound-for-pound star might have had a couple more years before age started catching up with him.

Despite chasing the fight with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Crawford’s backer Turki Alalshikh has now announced that he will no longer pursue it.

A fight with Lopez still seems very unlikely, but if it does happen the 27-year-old from Brooklyn believes he will prove superior in every department.

“From what I notice today, [I am better at] everything. Every single that I do. From the catch and shoot, the speed, the velocity of punches, the amount of combinations and head movement, the changed in footwork, defence, and the power. Everything.”

Crawford is likely to stick around at super-welterweight and attempt to unify the belts. Lopez says he is willing to move up to make the fight happen.
