Artur Beterbiev is boxing’s newest undisputed champion.
Although going into the fight he had stopped every single one of his 20 opponents, and was the only world champion with that record, Bivol became the first man to take him the distance.
In fact, Bivol won many of the early rounds in plenty of people’s eyes, but Beterbiev did well to rally and started to apply his famous pressure as the fight went on.
The victory gives him all four of the major world title belts, and already there is plenty of clamour for a rematch given how close and entertaining the first fight was.
However, there are also some other men waiting in the wings for their shot at the champion. The IBF have insisted that Beterbiev must make his next title defense against little-known mandatory challenger Michael Eifert.
David Benavidez is another man who is ready to challenge the 40-year-old. The former two-time super middleweight champion is now the WBC interim light heavyweight belt holder and has made it clear he wants a shot at 175 gold.
Speaking about fighting Bivol or Beterbiev to ESNEWS Benavidez believes he has the style to break down both men.
“I know that’s possible and I can accomplish that. I beat all of them, I find ways to win, that’s what makes me so dangerous, I can break down any type of style.”
