A reigning world champion believes they are even greater than Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
The 34-year-old Mexican superstar has had an incredible professional career to date, winning world titles across four weight classes since his debut way back in 2005.
In more recent years, Canelo has been a dominant force within the super middleweight division, becoming the first ever undisputed champion of the ‘four belt era’ when he defeated Caleb Plant in November 2021.
Canelo is now preparing to face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull in Riyadh on May 3, with a mega-fight against fellow pound-for-pound great Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford waiting for him should he be successful against Scull.
In a recent interview with The Ring Magazine, Crawford admitted that he is actually a big fan of Canelo, as he gave plaudits to the Mexican superstar.
“I’ve been a fan of Canelo for years. I just look at all of his fights as great. Without one, there wouldn’t be another. Each fight is defining, to take you to the next level. I’m not going to dismiss any fighter he ever fought because all of them have placed him in a position that he is right now, and that is the face of boxing.”
Despite this, ‘Bud’ went on to back himself to get the job done against Canelo when they clash in September, claiming he is the better fighter out of the two.
“A victory in Terence Crawford’s favor. C’mon, man. I’m the best.”
The 37-year-old American great is bidding to become a five division world champion when he finally gets his shot at Canelo later this year, in what has been described by many fans and pundits around the world as one of the biggest fights in the history of boxing.
