Three Weight World Champion Declares He Needs Floyd Mayweather To ‘Save His Career’

A three-weight world champion is keen to speak to Floyd Mayweather Jr for some vital career advice.

‘Money’ Mayweather drew the curtain on his incredible professional career not long after he defeated MMA legend Conor McGregor back in 2017, having reigned as a world champion in five weight classes during his tenure.

The 48-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan remained unbeaten through his entire career, winning all 50 of his professional contests. He racked up career defining victories against the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Miguel Cotto name a few.

Since retirement, Mayweather has delved into the world of promoting fighters under the banner of his company ‘Mayweather Promotions’, working with the likes of Gervonta Davis.

One current fighter who has recently reached out to ‘Money’ for some important guidance is the unbeaten WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson.

In an interview with Seconds Out, Stevenson claimed he intends to contact Mayweather again in the near future, as he looks to get advice from the boxing icon who, like him, has been known to suffer with serious hand issues.

“Yeah I had a conversation with him a long time ago, but I think we need to revisit the conversation and also, not only revisit the conversation I need to get more detail, more in-depth about everything that he done with his hands that helped him prevail through all of the notches that he had to deal with coming up.

“I’m definitely gonna call him, probably when I get back and settle down a little bit more, but I’m gonna call him and ask him exactly what he did, what I need to do, how do I help myself, how do I save my career.”

Stevenson returned to the ring last month as he stopped Britain’s Josh Padley in the ninth round of their bout, retaining his WBC lightweight crown and extending his record to 23-0.
