Jake Paul is set to return to the ring later this month.

The Youtuber-turned-boxer will go up against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California on June 28.

It’s the latest step in Paul’s boxing journey, having last competed in November when he beat boxing legend Mike Tyson in a controversial bout, due to ‘Iron Mike’ being 58-years-old and not having fought professionally in nearly two decades.

It’s hoped that Chavez Jr will pose a tougher test for Paul, although the Mexican fighter has failed to return to the heights he reached when he held world honours from 2011 to 2012, though does head into the bout on the back of two straight victories.

Paul has made it clear throughout his short career that his goal is to become world champion, and ‘The Problem Child’ may soon get his wish after he was offered an opportunity by an undefeated titleholder.

Jai Opetaia is the reigning IBF cruiserweight champion, who makes the latest defence of his belt when he faces Claudio Squeo in Australia on Sunday.

Opetaia has welcomed the challenge of Paul, telling Fox Sports Australia that he would ‘bash up’ the Youtuber-turned-boxer should they meet.

“If Jake Paul wants to fight me, bring it on. I’ll absolutely bash him on the way to becoming undisputed. But we know he’s smarter than that.

“These guys, they’re about business. They don’t want to be the best fighter in the world, they want to be the most famous. And there’s a real big difference in the two.”

There could be another reigning world champion that Paul finds himself in the ring with soon, after it was reported that he could be set to take on WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in a catchweight bout later this year.
