Shakur Stevenson is struggling to get the biggest and best fights in his division.
The current lightweight champion has faced criticism in his last two fights for his less that fan friendly boxing style.
He has said that an injury held him back in one performance when he beat Edwin De Los Santos for the vacant WBC belt last year, while he then opted to blame his last opponent Artem Harutyunyan for being overly defensive when they recently met for 12 rounds.
Right now he is being linked with huge fights with the likes of fellow champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis who would no doubt bring out the best of the Newark fighter. Yesterday it was falsely announced that the fight had been made.
One current world champion however has now declared to Fight Hub TV that he is not interested in fighting Stevenson due to his style.
That man is WBA super-lightweight champion Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, who first listed why he would like to fight other men in the division.
“Gervonta Davis is a good fight people want to see. Teofimo Lopez would be good cause both styles fit well. Ryan Garica because it’s a fight people want to see.”
Cruz, who has already lost to ‘Tank’, then explained why he wouldn’t fight Stevenson.
“The fight with Stevenson is not a fight for the people, all the people will go to sleep then. It will be like a Mozart concert for the people and everyone will go to sleep.”
Cruz will make the first defence of his title against Jose Valenzuela this weekend on the Terence Crawford-Israil Madrimov card in Los Angeles.
