A reigning world champion has criticised Canelo‘s performance against William Scull on Saturday night.

The 34-year-old from Mexico became the first two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion in boxing history when he defeated former IBF champion William Scull via unanimous decision at the Anb Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

It was a comprehensive victory for Canelo who did more than enough to get the nod on all three of the judges scorecards, although Scull appeared to be quite reluctant to engage in a fire-fight with the Mexican icon as he spent the majority of the bout boxing on the ‘back foot’.

In the immediate aftermath of Canelo’s triumph, WBC world lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson gave his honest assessment on social media of the 34-year-old’s performance against the previously unbeaten IBF champion – claiming if Scull was the A side then he would get the decision.

“Ok I’m not saying dude not running but I am saying if this dude was the A side and the big superstar he would win this fight off this.”

Shortly after the result was announced, it was finally confirmed that the mega-fight between Canelo and Terence Crawford will take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on September 12, putting months of speculation to bed.

Stevenson also commented on that match-up, stating that he would bet anything that Crawford will be victorious.

“Any rappers\athletes, Anybody who trying to lose money hit my line for Canelo and Bud fight, I’m betting whatever!!”

‘Bud’ Crawford will have his sights set on becoming a three-weight undisputed world champion in the bout, having already achieved this feat in the super-lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Victory over Canelo will also see the 37-year-old from Omaha, Nebraska become a five-weight world champion and cement himself as arguably the greatest fighter of his generation.
