A reigning world welterweight champion has vowed to knock Ryan Garcia out cold should their paths cross in the future.
Garcia achieved his career-long dream of becoming a world champion last month when he defeated Mario Barrios to capture the WBC welterweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on February 21.
The 27-year-old from California floored Barrios in the opening few seconds of their Las Vegas showdown and would go on to dominate his countryman over 12 rounds before being declared the winner via unanimous decision with scorecards of 120-107, 119-108 and 118-109.
As speculation grows about what could be on the horizon for ‘King Ry’, the newly-crowned WBC welterweight champion looks to have been called out by former rival Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, who currently holds the WBA world title at 147lbs.
Speaking on social media recently, Romero threatened to knock Garcia ‘out cold’ should they go on to lock horns for the second time in their respective professional careers.
“Ryan knows if he actually threw punches with me, he knows he’d get knocked out cold”
‘Rolly’ pulled off a massive upset when he defeated Garcia to capture the WBA ‘Regular’ welterweight title at the iconic Times Square in New York City back in May of 2025.
Garcia was dropped early on in the fight and ‘King Ry’ struggled to ever get a foothold in the bout, as Romero would go on to claim a unanimous decision victory.
Romero was later elevated to full WBA world champion shortly after Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis decided to vacate the belt prior to his move up to super-welterweight.
