Terence Crawford is focused on Canelo Alvarez but another world champion has now called out ‘Bud’ for a fight.
Crawford and Canelo are reported to have agreed a deal for their mega fight later this year, with Crawford moving up several weight classes for the bout against unified super-middleweight champion Canelo.
A victory for Crawford would be regarded as one of the best in recent memory, and most likely solidify his status as the number one pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.
It seems that one man doesn’t agree with that assessment though, after ‘Bud’ was criticised by current WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
Lopez and Crawford have seemingly become enemies as of late, as seen when they were pulled apart during a ringside scuffle at the Canelo vs. Edgar Berlanga fight last September.
Teofimo has now revealed to TKO Boxing that he wants to get in the ring with ‘Bud’ and prove that his rival isn’t as good as everybody thinks he is.
“The only way I can show the world that I’m the best is by facing the best. My main goal depends on Canelo and Bud, as I would love to fight Crawford as well. He is one of the top pound-for-pound fighters of this time, and I want to show the world why he’s not in my eyes.”
Lopez’s next move is currently unknown, after negotiations for a fight against Subriel Matias broke down recently, and he has explained exactly why that clash didn’t come to fruition.
