Gervonta Davis has a target on his back.

‘Tank’ is the reigning WBA lightweight champion, defending it most recently against Frank Martin in Las Vegas in June.

It was a competitive fight up until the eighth round, where Davis produced his usual explosive power to earn the knockout and extend his record to 30-0.

The big puncher from Baltimore is now set to return to the ring in March to defend his title against current WBA super-featherweight champion Lamont Roach, who is moving up in weight for the showdown.

The fight was originally set to be held in December before being pushed back three months, but despite the delay, Roach has told TMZ Sports that he plans on getting the stoppage.

“I anticipate it to be Fight of the Year. For all those who don’t know, I can bully. When I’m in there I’m in my zone. I’m in my jam. I’m going to surprise a lot of people and shock a lot of people when I win.

“I hope [to knock Tank out]. Who doesn’t want to win by knockout? I’m going to be training for it. No matter how it goes. If it goes 12, if it goes 10, if it goes 8, if it goes 1, I’ll be training to make sure I can knock him out in any round.”

Roach isn’t the only fighter that has sent a threat the champion’s way recently, with another unbeaten lightweight in Keyshawn Davis making it clear that he wants to face ‘Tank’ in 2025.
