William Zepeda has summed up the punching power of Shakur Stevenson ahead of his upcoming showdown with Teofimo Lopez.

WBC lightweight champion Stevenson is set to challenge Lopez for the WBO super-lightweight title at Madison Square Garden on Saturday January 31, on a card that also features the likes of Keyshawn Davis and Jarrell Miller..

Stevenson was last in action back in July when he handed Zepeda the first loss of his professional career, defeating the Mexican via unanimous decision at the conclusion of their bout at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York City.

Lopez is yet to make a return to the ring since he comprehensively defeated WBO mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr at the iconic Times Square in New York in May of 2025, making the third successful defence of his WBO crown in the process.

Whilst there have been concerns that Stevenson lacks the ability to hurt his opponents, recent opponent Zepeda revealed to KG TV that the unbeaten American actually has ‘good power’.

“He has good, solid power that kept me at a distance. If he didn’t have any hand problems, he would be a problem a little bit more but he has good above above-average power. Good sting.”

Stevenson could become a world champion in a fourth weight class should he come out on top against Lopez later this month, but the 28-year-old from Newark is preparing for a tough match-up against his countryman in what could prove to be one of the biggest fights of 2026.
