Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua may finally face off in 2025.

The battle of Britain has been over-marinated and could have, at one stage, been for the undisputed heavyweight championship. Oleksandr Usyk put paid to that, beating both Fury and Joshua twice to collect all four world titles.

Whilst Fury looks to bounce back from a competitive loss to the Ukrainian, ‘AJ’ was most recently soundly beaten by knockout at the hands of young Daniel Dubois.

As such, and despite the match-up undoubtedly generating great interest and money, top contender Zhilei Zhang agrees with some others in the sport that it has lost its meaning.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Zhang – who faced and lost to ‘AJ’ at the 2012 Olympics – said all the fight will do is settle a personal rivalry.

“I don’t think that fight means a lot in terms of belts and championships because that fight has been talked about for years. When both of those two had belts, it was talked about. Now, none of them have belts and they’re still talking about it. I think it’s a good way to see who is one of the best heavyweights in the UK, but other than that, I don’t really see a meaning for that fight other than blockbuster.”

As for Usyk, ‘Big Bang’ has nothing but praise following his second victory over Fury.

“Usyk absolutely undisputed and I think he delivered a much better performance than the first fight. I had it one-sided in my opinion. I think right now he is the king of the heavyweight division.”

The towering Chinese southpaw returns to action on February 22 to face Agit Kabayel, with the winner high up the queue to face Usyk should he decide to fight on and defend his belts.
