Deontay Wilder is one of the biggest punchers in boxing history.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ has won 43 professional fights during his career, with an incredible 42 of those coming by knockout.

He reigned as the WBC heavyweight champion for over five years from 2015 to 2020, knocking out Luis Ortiz twice, Bermaine Stiverne, Dominic Breazeale and Chris Arreola during that time.

The heavy hitter from Alabama has come unstuck in recent years though after losing four of his last five bouts, twice to Tyson Fury, then to Joseph Parker and most recently Zhilei Zhang back in June.

While Zhang may have won that fight by knockout, and even despite most feeling Wilder didn’t look like his old self, he has now given his verdict on just how hard Wilder hits in an interview with Seconds Out.

“He’s very powerful. His power lives up to the hype. I was able to take away his power in my own way so he couldn’t land that much, but in the fifth round he did land a punch and I definitely felt it, but I ate it and moved forward.”

Zhang also shared his view on what he thinks Wilder should do next after his defeat.

“That’s a question only he can answer. If he chooses to stay in the ring, I wish him the best moving forward. If he chooses to hang them up, I believe that he has made enough money to take care of his family, and I wish him good health.”

Wilder’s trainer, Malik Scott, has confirmed his man will fight on.
