Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic face off in one of five intriguing battles in Riyadh this weekend, and Zhilei Zhang, who also features on the card, predicts ‘destruction.’
Hrgovic has occupied the number one spot with the IBF for some time now, and is confident that Dubois won’t be able to snatch that from him before he gets his world title shot.
So far undefeated, he has even said that he will retire if Dubois wins. The young Brit – who is coming off a hard-fought win against American heavyweight Jarrell Miller – believes he is a changed man from the pair’s past sparring sessions.
Speaking to Boxing News, ‘Big Bang’ Zhang predicted Dubois will ‘destroy’ Hrgovic and take his mandatory slot.
“Dubois destroys him.”
Zhang has face Hrgovic in the past, losing a relatively controversial decision.
The heavyweight from China – who fights Deontay Wilder in the main event – then backed his entire Queensberry team to one-up Matchroom, getting into the spirit of the tournament concept in which a point system will ultimately crown either Eddie Hearn or Frank Warren’s stable victorious at the end of the card.
“We’re a team, I trust my teammates … No pressure, I believe everybody is going to do his job for the team.”
The 5 vs 5 also features a middleweight bout between Hamzah Sheeraz and Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams, Raymond Ford versus Nick Ball for Ford’s WBA featherweight title and Willy Hutchinson against Craig Richards in the light heavyweight ranks.
Dmitry Bivol also defends his WBA 175 belt against Malik Zinad, although that isn’t within the tournament. Fans can tune in to the action live on DAZN this weekend.
