Zhilei Zhang is on the warpath and looking for his next opponent.
The Chinese heavyweight has had a resurgence of late. His last four fights have included three big wins and one close defeat to Joseph Parker, despite putting the former world champion down twice.
The victories have come against British Olympian Joe Joyce, who was looking unstoppable until he came up against Zhang twice in back-to-back fights last year and was stopped both times.
Then back in March, ‘Big Bang’ stepped into the ring with the fearsome knockout artist Deontay Wilder and again came out victorious off the back of a huge knockout.
Speaking to Seconds Out he was asked about his next opponent.
“I have an open mind for everybody, and if people want to fight me, I’m always open to the challenge.”
He was then asked specifically about Martin Bakole who stopped American prospect Jared Anderson at the weekend.
“He did great. I respect him as a person and as a fighter and I would be really interested in fighting him. Everything is possible. I’m open to everything.”
Bakole had previously said he would make Zhang ‘cry and retire’ if the two ever met in the ring, Zhang’s response was to promise another knockout.
“That’s what every fighter says before a fight. Everybody wants to make me cry, make me retire, but see what happens, we don’t do talking, we do the actions, we’re righters. Everybody said they want to knock me out. Zero have succeeded.
It won’t last five.”
