WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire , 27-1-(18), easily handled the previously unbeaten Argentine Omar Narvaez,35-1-2-(19), to claim a shutout unanimous 12 round decision to retain WBC/WBO bantamweight titles at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday night.

As was indicated by the huge 120-108 scoeline on all three judges cards, Donaire was in complete control, out-manoeuvring Narvaez in every department. Narvaez, for his part, seemed happy to play the defensive roll and accepts he was going to suffer his first defeat.

On the undercard unbeaten NABF featherweight champion Miguel Angel Garcia, 27-0-(23), crushed Juan Carlos Martinez, 19-13-1-(7), in round four. Garcia floored Martinez with a left hook in round three and twice more in round four before the bout was stopped after 2:40.
