In search of one more title, two-time former champion Carl Frampton stayed busy by stopping Darren Traynor in round seven at York Hall in London, Eng.

The time was a minute into the round.

Frampton,33, jabbed to the body and head in round one. A right also landed. Traynor, taller by a few inches, fired a number of rights that missed. Frampton controlled round two with left hooks. Traynor connected with a right and a few jabs. Frampton landed a combination in round three. Traynor, who took the fight on a weeks’ notice, fired back.

In round four, Frampton loaded up a bit more. A right landed on the ear. He stepped in with a couple of jabs. Frampton moved around more in round five. Traynor pursued, and did land a hook at the bell. Both fighters connected with good punches in round six. Frampton a little better. A left hook to the body floored Traynor near the end of the round. He beat the count as the bell rang.

Frampton went right back to the body in the next stanza. He wanted to end things. Another left hook to the gut convinced Traynor, not the referee, to signal that the fight was over.

“I was far from my best,” admitted "The Jackal.”

Talented Michael Conlan,28, got to work quickly against Frenchmen Sofiane Takouct. He landed jabs and hooks. Takoucht,34, tried to counter, but Conlan, switching between orthodox and southpaw, went to the body.

The awkward Takouct was more aggressive in round two. Conlan kept working the body. He landed a sharp uppercut.

In rounds three and four, Conlan (14-0, 8 KOs) continued to outwork his opponent. Referee Steve Gray halted the action due to a low blow by Conlan. The Belfast hero nodded at Gray’s lecture and went right back to work. His belly work appeared to be bothering Takouct (34-5, 13 KOs) though he did have a point deducted.

Takouct landed a light right in round five. Conlan lost another point after a hook landed south of the border. Conlan kept his shots at chin level in round six. He landed a number of them. Takouct appeared to be in survival mode. Conlan snapped off some jabs in round seven. Another punch to the gut hurt Takouct. Conlan’s dominated rounds nine and ten. The only question was whether he could stop Takouct.

Yes. Conlan came out firing big hooks in the 10th and final round. Multiple hooks knocked Takouct into the ropes. A combination wobbled Takouct inducing convincing referee Gray to step in and wave the fight off.

Time: 1:54 seconds.
