Chantelle Cameron broke the hearts of Katie Taylor fans, edging the hometown hero or over 10 exciting rounds at 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland Saturday night.

 

Scores of 95-95, and 96-94 twice.

In round three, Taylor (22-1, 6 KOs) moved to her left. Cameron landed a jab, while Taylor scored with the old 1-2. Taylor was boxing well. The bigger Cameron was making her work for everything. Could she keep up this pace at 36? Cameron’s corner didn’t think so. Taylor came out jabbing in round four. She opened up.  Cameron pushed Taylor into the ropes. Her jab clipped Taylor. Taylor landed a straight right. Cameron stalked Taylor in round five. Taylor moved and jabbed. Cameron landed a right. She worked the body. Taylor scored with a left and right.

 

Close fight through five. Cameron,31, landed multiple rights. The two champions went toe-toe. Cameron landed a left hook. Taylor scored with rights. Cameron began round seven jabbing. She landed a huge left hook. Taylor fought back, but Cameron got the best of her. Taylor came out punching in round eight. Cameron pushed forward. Her bodywork was impressive. Taylor bounced off the ropes and scored. Cameron landed an uppercut. Taylor clipped Cameron with a fast combination. The round was hers.

 

Taylor circled in round nine. The feeling was she needed to win the last two rounds. Taylor landed a right. She countered and scored. Cameron landed two uppercuts. Taylor fought back.

 

Would the last round decide the fight? Both ladies were tired. Marked. Taylor fired combinations in the opening seconds. She scored. She got off first. Taylor landed a left. Cameron landed, but so did Taylor. Cameron scored with a huge uppercut.
