Reigning British middleweight champion Liam Williams, who could still make super-welter, added the WBC Silver strap at the higher poundage with a statement win, becoming the first man to stop the usually durable Frenchman Karim Achour. The compact welsh boxer-puncher started on the front foot, claimed centre ring and never ceded the advantage. In round two, he scored two knockdowns in quick succession, first from a short right hand then a barrage topped by a left hook, underlining the variety he showed in the short time the fight lasted. Williams’ only defeats are both to Liam Smith at 154lbs but he looks to have improved markedly since then under trainer Dominic Ingle and is still just 27.

Welling super-featherweight Archie Sharp retained a fringe WBO strap against tough Scot, Jordan McCorry, a recent British title challenger. Sharp picked his shots beautifully at times, using deft footwork and dropping his man with a precise left to the body in round three of a scheduled 10. McCorry came into things more towards the end and landed some significant blows, but Sharp never looked in any danger and deserved the 98-91 verdict for all the three judges.

Sunny Edwards of Croydon outscored game but limited Mexican Hiram Gallardo for the vacant IBF International belt. Edwards, the brother of WBC flyweight king Charlie, was slick and evasive as always, always a step ahead of his opponent and well worth the 99-90 scores over 10 on all three cards. He scored a knockdown/slip en route to victory.
