Jermall Charlo, 29, making the fifth defense of his WBC middleweight strap, tried to establish his jab in the opening round. Hogan landed a left hook. Charlo seemed surprised by the quickness of Hogan.

Charlo (30-0, 22 KOs) inched closer in round two. He touched Hogan (28-3-1, 7 KOs) with jabs, and cracked him with a hook.

The shorter Hogan circled in round three. Charlo stalked. His jab was now landing. Hogan connected with a left hook. The blow didn’t bother Charlo. No surprise as Hogan entered the fight with only seven knockouts.

Charlo sent Hogan to the canvas with a short-left hook to the chin in round four. Hogan got up at seven as Charlo came after him. Charlo dominated in rounds five and six. Two left hands connected. He went to the body and strafed Hogan with rights. He was chopping Hogan down.

The end appeared imminent in round seven. Hogan had no answers. He couldn’t keep Charlo off him. A wicked left hook sent Hogan to the canvas for the second time. The game challenger pulled himself up but was obviously hurt. The referee waved the fight off.

The time was 28 seconds into seven.

A win is a win, but Chris Eubank Jr. looked a little stunned as he stood in his corner after being declared the winner over Matt Korobov.

Korobov, a southpaw, had easily won the first round—connecting with a number of straight left hands. In round two another left smashed off the neck of Eubank. Korobov backed off and moved in, but seconds later he was waving to the referee that he was hurt.

He was deemed unable to continue due to an injury to his shoulder. It appeared to be either a dislocation or muscle pull.

The win goes in the records as a stoppage in round two.
