The much-anticipated fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could be as close as ever, and Amir Khan has now given his prediction.
Fury got back to winning ways after more than 16 months out following his back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk. He took on Russian Arslanbek Makmuhdov in what was a solid challenge.
Makmuhdov never stopped throwing punches throughout the fight, but Fury did well to box and move and land plenty of combinations. He ran out a wide points winner and showed he still has plenty left.
Following the final bell, he confronted Joshua at ringside and challenged him to the showdown many fans have been wanting for years.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Khan was asked about the potential contest between two former heavyweight rulers.
“Fantastic fight, what a fight it is. I still think Tyson could take it, but ‘AJ’ is looking strong. I want to see how ‘AJ’ is going to look coming back now, you know what I mean.
“Obviously, he’s gone through a lot as well with the loss of his friends and everything else in training camp. But look, I’m sure it would be a mega fight. What a massive fight that would be.”
Joshua’s last outing was a knockout victory over Jake Paul in December last year, over a year after he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in an IBF title fight.
He has recently been in camp training with Usyk and will have to decide whether to take another tune-up fight or go straight into a showdown with ‘The Gypsy King.’
