Tony Bellew has suggested who Moses Itauma should fight next as he continues his journey towards a world title.

Itauma is one of the most exciting young talents in the game. The British star has won all 14 of his professional contests so far and has proven he has legitimate punching power, with 12 of the wins coming by KO.

All but three have come in the first two rounds, and he became the first man to stop tough American Jermaine Franklin last time out. The problem now is matchmaking as he continues his learning before stepping into the ring with an elite-level fighter.

Speaking to Fight Your Corner, Bellew claimed the first heavyweight champion of Mexican descent would be a great opponent for Itauma at this stage in his career.

“Andy Ruiz is the fight. It lets you know where Moses Itauma is at, if he gets rid of Andy Ruiz. Andy Ruiz is a former unified heavyweight champion of the world. Dress it up whichever way you want, yes he beat ‘AJ’ then he lost the rematch, but he will come to win.

“He’s coming to win. Him beating Andy Ruiz would tell me more about Moses Itauma than knocking out Deontay Wilder, cause I know he would destroy Deontay Wilder in one round.”

Ruiz shocked the world with an upset KO win over Anthony Joshua in June 2019, but lost the rematch six months later and has been largely inactive since, with wins over Chris Arreola and Luiz Ortiz and a draw with Jarrell Miller in August 2024.
