Ben Davison will be in Anthony Joshua’s corner when he takes on his former pupil Tyson Fury in December.
Davison helped bring Fury back from two years away from the sport in 2018 when he had been struggling with mental health and addiction issues.
He took him through his first two comeback fights, then cornered him for his epic draw in America with Deontay Wilder before Fury then left and hooked up with Sugar Hill Steward.
After that, Joshua later joined Davison, who had worked with him ahead of his loss to Daniel Dubois in 2024, before Joshua then went away to work with members of Oleksandr Usyk’s team.
The pair are now back together for Joshua’s fight with Fury in December, and speaking to Boxing King Media, Tyson’s brother Shane Fury questioned the relationship between the two.
“What I couldn’t do if I was Joshua, and I’m taking it Joshua knows what relationship Tyson and Ben have got even up to present, is feel totally certain that what he is trying to teach me is in my best interest.
“It really depends what sort of individual Ben Davison is and what relationship they have got with Tyson, but I know one thing, I couldn’t do it. I wouldn’t have trained Joshua in the first place for that reason. I couldn’t be loyal to two men, I’m either loyal to one man or another.
“One man’s dragged me from the gutter and give me a career and put me on a platform to get me where I am now, and another man’s paying me money.
“I’m not saying the allegiance is with Tyson at all, but there is a possibility there could be, and I’d be thinking if I was Joshua, why do you want me to do that, that doesn’t make sense.
“When you’re thinking about it and when you aren’t trusting someone, when there’s doubts this man still talks to the man I’m going to have a fight with, I’d be questioning.”
